Men's Tennis Topples Mt. St. Mary for Second Win

Newburgh, NY| The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) men's tennis team defeated Mt. St. Mary College, 6-3, in a Skyline Conference contest for their second win of the season on Saturday afternoon.

The win moves the Golden Eagles to 2-8 overall on the year and 1-4 in Skyline play.

SJLI's first doubles pair of Cory Stengel and Tyler Brock, and second doubles pair of William Vita and Gordon Shouler both earned 8-0 wins, ensuring the guests took a 2-1 advantage into singles play.

Vita and Brock were 6-0, 6-0 winners at first and fourth singles, respectively, while Stengel won 6-0, 6-1 at second singles.

Shouler won a tiebreaker to secure a 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 win at third singles.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Wednesday, April 27, when they visit Manhattanville for a Skyline Conference contest at 4:30 pm.
