Men's Volleyball Ranked 12th in Final National Poll
Lexington, KY| The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) men's volleyball team was ranked 12th when the final NVA/AVCA Division III Coaches Poll was released on Tuesday afternoon.
The Golden Eagles broke into the Top-15 for the first time in program history having previously received votes in the 2020 Preseason Coaches Poll.
SJLI's recognition as one of the top Division III program's in the nation comes on the heels of a historic season in which the team won its third Skyline Conference title and recorded its first-ever NCAA Tournament victory with a first-round triumph over then-#6 Southern Virginia. The Golden Eagles were defeated by regional host #4 Stevens in the national quarterfinals.
Sixth-year head coach Bill Kropp guided SJLI to a 26-4 overall record and placed four players on Skyline All-Conference teams: Paul Curaro (First-Team), Mark Jensen (First-Team), Quinn Foglia (Second-Team), and Clint Johnson (Second-Team).
Kropp was named conference Co-Coach of the Year while Curaro and Jensen took home Player and Rookie of the Year honors, respectively. Curaro also became the first player in program history to garner AVCA Northeast All-Region accolades.
St. Joseph's finished the season ranked second in the nation in aces-per-set (2.89), fifth in opponent hitting percentage (.119), and sixth in hitting percentage (.303).
