The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) men's volleyball team fell short to #7 SUNY New Paltz in a non-conference contest in the Danzi Center on Saturday afternoon.

Top Performers
  • Freshman Luke MacPherson led the Golden Eagles with a 10-kill performance

  • Junior Mark Williams and senior Tyler Anderson both finished with nine kills and totaled five digs apiece 

  • Junior CJ Johnson tossed a match-best 32 assists and finished with a team-high six digs. 

  • New Paltz's Brendan Spulnick knocked down a match-best 12 digs with teammate Pat Wing finishing with 11

How it happened:
  • The Golden Eagles led through most of the first set, but the Hawks chipped away eventually tying the score at 18. Three unanswered points put the visitors ahead 21-18 and they would go on to claim the set 25-22

  • New Paltz was in control for set two allowing St. Joseph's to within one 18-17, but never faltered as they took a 2-0 match lead with a 25-21 win

  • Much like set one, SJLI held a lead through much of the game until Dan LaRose's service ace put the Hawks ahead 20-19 before completing the sweep with a 25-21 win

  • New Paltz tallied 35 kills compared to SJLI's 32

  • SJLI recorded six total blocks as the Hawks finished with five

  • The match say eight tied scores and four lead changes 

Next up, the Golden Eagles will host their final regular season game in the Danzi Center as Ramapo College comes to Patchogue on Tuesday, April 4 at 7:00 pm.
