Softball Drops Two at Farmingdale on Saturday

Farmingdale, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) softball team dropped a pair of Skyline Conference contests, 9-1 and 3-0, to Farmingdale State on Saturday afternoon.

The losses send the Golden Eagles to 7-3 overall on the year and 5-3 in conference play as the Rams improve to 6-3 and 6-2.

The hosts jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning and extended their lead to 3-0 with an additional to runs in the second.

SJC would get on the board in the top of the third when freshman Madison DiSalvo (0-for-0) walked and scored graduate student Ashley Accardi (0-for-1) from third base (3-1).

Farmingdale doubled its output in the third inning, going ahead 6-1, before posting three more runs in the fourh (9-1).

Junior Patricia McGloin (3-2) took the loss for SJC on the mound.

Scoreless into the bottom of the fifth, Farmingdale scored three runs off the bats of Jessica Lombardo (1-for-2), Julianna Prescia (0-for-3), and Brooke Walker (1-for-3) in successive at-bats.

SJC failed to find an answer in the remaining two innings and succombed to a 3-0 defeat.

Freshman Julia Ruocchio (1-2) struck out one batter and allowed three earned runs in 6.0 innings of work for the Golden Eagles.
