Softball Sweeps SJC-Brooklyn on Senior Day

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) softball team secured a sweep of St. Joseph's (Brkln), 5-2 and 6-4, on Senior Day on Saturday.

With the wins, the Golden Eagles improve to 12-3 overall and 10-3 in Skyline Conference play as the Bears drop to 15-6 (11-6).

In game one, the Golden Eagles erased a 1-0 deficit to come back and win 5-2. Lauren Crawford (2-for-4) drove in Jenna DeFina (2-for-3) for the winning run in the fourth inning.

Patricia McGloin (6-2) struck out five batters in a complete-game win for the hosts.

The Golden Eagles fell behind 4-1 in the second inning of game two but clawed back to erase the deficit and pull ahead 6-4 when Crawford (1-for-4) singled through the left side, scoring DeFina (4-for-4) and Samantha Dimezza (0-for-2). 

Julia Ruocchio started the contest on the mound for the hosts but allowed four earned runs and was replaced by McGloin (7-2) who tossed 5.1 innings and recorded the win.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Sunday, May 2 at SJC Softball Stadium with a doubleheader vs. the Bears beginning at 12:00 pm.
