Women's Lacrosse Falls to Albright, 20-8 on Saturday

Results:

The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) women's lacrosse team faltered to Albright College, 20-8 on Saturday afternoon.

Top performers:
  • Senior Jamie Trowbridge led the Golden Eagles with four goals and one assist, while also contributing five draw controls and one groundball 

  • Junior Kayleigh Mimnaugh recorded three goals, with one groundball and one caused turnover

  • Senior Grace Erny led the Golden Eagles with three caused turnovers and matched a team-high three groundballs

  • Kyra Lycett of Albright matched a game-high four goals while adding three assists, four groundballs, four draw controls, and four caused turnovers

  • Chloe Fornoff led the Lions with four goals, two assists, three groundballs, and eight draw controls 

How it happened:
  • The opening quarter saw both teams scoring in bunches as the Lions would score the first five goals of the game

  • A goal from Trowbridge at the 8:49 mark of the first quarter saw the Golden Eagles get in the scoring column but the Lions would respond shortly after taking the opening quarter 9-4

  • Both teams would regress scoring as both teams anchored down defensively there would only be three total goals in the second quarter as Albright scored two goals compared to St. Joseph's one goal scored

  • The Lions took a commanding lead in the third quarter as they scored the only four goals of the quarter entering the final frame with a 15-5 lead

  • SJLI would not go away as Mimnaugh would score the first two goals of the fourth quarter but Albright would respond by scoring three unanswered goals to secure the victory for the Lions 

Notes:
  • St. Joseph's was a modest 14-24 on clears compared to Albright who was 16-26

  • SJLI tallied 14 draw controls compared to Albright's 17

  • The Golden Eagles recorded 22 shots while the Lions had 38 shots

  • SJLI collected 15 groundballs with Albright scooping up 25 groundballs
