Women's Soccer Finishes Third in '13 Skyline Preseason Poll

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Farmingdale State has been selected to capture its seventh consecutive Skyline women's soccer title in voting conducted by the league's nine head coaches. 

The Rams earned six first-place votes and amassed 62 points, while 2012 regular season champion Mount Saint Mary placed second in the poll with 57 points while receiving a pair of first place votes.  Farmingdale State welcomes back 2012 Skyline Defensive Player of the Year Andrea Kiefer and sophomore forward Ashlee Thompson, who compiled 24 points on 10 goals and four assists en route to garnering second team All-Conference distinction last season. 

MSMC will be led by reigning Skyline Player of the Year Shanice Robe (35 goals) as well as 2012 first-team All-Conference seniors Brigit Burgio, Jacquelyn Mancini and Tara McDermott.  The Knights outscored their opponents by a 76-16 margin a year ago while recording a 17-4-1 overall ledger.

St. Joseph's-L.I. finished third in the voting with 46 points, followed by Old Westbury (40), The Sage Colleges (37), Purchase (32), Mount Saint Vincent (27), NYU-Poly (14) and Maritime (9). 

The quarterfinals of the six-team Skyline Women's Soccer Championship will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2, with the semifinals scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 6.  The title match will be played at Mount Saint Mary College on Saturday, Nov. 9, as part of the Skyline's Inaugural Fall Festival.
