Women's Soccer Edges Dolphins, 1-0

Patchogue, NY| Savannah McMaster's second-half goal lifted the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's soccer team over the College of Mt. St. Vincent 1-0 at Danzi Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The Golden Eagles move to 9-4 on the season with a 6-2 Skyline Conference mark. The Dolphins slide to 6-5-1 overall, 5-3 Skyline.

SJC maintained possession through most of the first half outshooting CMSV 9-2. The best scoring opportunity of the half came in the 21st minute when back-to-back shots off the foot of McMaster were saved by defender Lauren Vetoulis right in front of the net.

After neither side could breakthrough in the first frame, McMaster intercepted a pass from the Dolphin defense and blasted a shot off the far side post, and followed up the rebound for the eventual game-winner. CMSV made a push late in the second half but the Golden Eagles weathered the storm and secured the 1-0 victory.

SJC finished outshooting the Dolphins 19-6 with an 8-0 corner kick advantage.

St. Joseph's keeper Mikayla Ritter finished the night with three saves with Mt. St. Vincent's Kora-Lyn McCullough recording eight.

The Golden Eagles return to Danzi Stadium for the final time of the regular season to host Sarah Lawrence College on Saturday, October 23 at 3:00 pm.
