Women’s Volleyball Swept by Alfred St.

Mahwah, NJ| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 defeat to Alfred St. in the opening game of the Ramapo College Tournament in Mahwah, NJ on Friday evening. With the defeat, the Golden Eagles slip to 4-9 on the season as the Pioneers improve to a perfect 10-0.

Despite taking an early 8-5 lead in the first set, SJC allowed Alfred to mount a comeback and take the opener by the score of 25-19. Tight action in the second frame saw the Golden Eagles fall just short, 25-21, meanwhile set three was dominated by the Pioneers, who cruised to a 25-14 win to sweep the match.

The SJC attack was led by senior Kiersten Kissinger, who collected a team-best six kills. Juniors Morgan Tiska and Claire Urizzo pitched in with four kills of their own.

Senior Courtney Wickline dished out a team-high 14 assists, and sophomore Danielle Senecal collected a game-high 18 digs.

The Golden Eagles return to action tomorrow, Saturday, October 1 when they continue play in the Ramapo College Tournament. They'll face the hosts in an 11:00 AM match and wrap up play with a 1:00 PM contest vs. Neumann. Live stats can be found here.
