Women’s Volleyball Sweeps Lehman for Third-Straight Victory

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's volleyball team earned its third-straight victory on Saturday afternoon with a three-game sweep of non-conference opponent Lehman College inside the Danzi Center.

The win sees the Golden Eagles improve to 5-9 on the season as the Lightning slip to 2-15.

SJC breezed through the first set, scooping up a 25-13 victory and using that momentum to pull ahead 10-2 early in the second.

Later, up 18-6, the hosts used a a 7-2 run to storm to a convincing 25-8 second-set win and take a 2-0 lead in the match.

Lehman, down 11-5 in the third, rattled off four-straight points to pull the score back to within two (9-11), but SJC scored 14 of the match's final 16 points to earn the three-game sweep with a 25-11 third-set triumph.

Senior Claire Urizzo hit .471 in the match and put down a match-high 10 kills. Junior Kristen Bohnenblusch and senior Morgan Tiska contributed eight and six kills, respectively.

Senior Jessica Monteserrato dished out a match-best 16 assists and Danielle Senecal scooped up a game-leading 13 digs.

The Golden Eagles, who collected a total of 35 digs, registered their second-highest hitting percentage of the season (.282) and were credited with just 13 attacking errors.
