Women’s Volleyball Defeats Mt. St. Mary, Sarah Lawrence in Reg. Season Finale

Bronxville, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's volleyball team wrapped up its regular season with a pair of victories over Mount St. Mary College (3-2) and Sarah Lawrence College (3-0) on Saturday afternoon and clinched home-court advantage in the first round of the Skyline Conference Championship tournament on Tuesday.

The wins ensure the Golden Eagles finish the season with a 14-13 overall record and an 8-2 mark in Skyline play.

SJC 3, MSMC 2

The Golden Eagles took a stranglehold of the match with first and second set victories to go up 2-0, but the Knights responded with two wins of their own to knot the score up at two and force a fifth set.

With all the momentum on the side of their opponents, the Golden Eagles fell behind 8-3 in the deciding set, but a 12-3 run by SJC--highlighted by four service aces off the hand of senior Morgan Tiska--saw the side surge to a 15-11 victory to win the match in dramatic fashion.

Tiska hit .355 and put down a game-best 14 kills. Junior Kristen Bohnenblusch contributed nine kills and freshman Jessica Young collected eight.

Senior Jessica Monteserrato led the Golden Eagles in assists (36) and digs (22).

SJC 3, SLC 0

In the afternoon's final match, SJC earned its 12th 3-0 victory of the year to clinch home court advantage in the first round for the third-straight season.

Tiska again led all participants in kills, this time with nine, in a match that saw her hit .438. Young hit .714 and collected six kills.

Freshman Brionna Silva was credited with a game-best 18 kills and junior Danielle Senecal led the team with nine digs.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Tuesday, October 31 when they host a Skyline Conference first round match-up inside the Danzi Center at 7:00 pm. Opponent TBD. Live video/stats will be available here.
