Women's Volleyball Splits at Misericordia Tournament

Dallas, PA| The St. Joseph's College women's volleyball team posted a split on day one of the Misericordia University Tournament on Friday evening at the Anderson Center. The Golden Eagles opened the tournament with at 3-0 sweep of Wilson College before falling to Misericordia 3-1.

Ahead 1-0 in the match, the Golden Eagles edged out Wilson 25-23 in set two before completing the sweep with a 25-9 win in set three. 

Senior Kristen Bohnenblusch le all players with nine kills and six service aces. Senior Amanda Rose added eight kills and three aces. Sophomore setter Brionna Silva tossed 17 assists with senior libero Danielle Senecal finishing with four digs.

Wilson was led by Tioleaoauli Posiulai with seven kills. Setter Kristina Zuniga recorded 15 assists and Tia Jones finished with a game-high 14 digs.

St. Joseph's began the match with a 26-24 win over the Cougars before dropping the three straight, 25-23, 25-16, and 25-21.

Freshman Amanda Goldstein led the Golden Eagles with 12 kills while hitting at a .524 clip. Bohnenblusch recorded nine kills with 15 digs with senior Amanda Rose pitching in with eight kills and three block assists. Sophomore setter Toni Parente dished 29 assists with senior libero Danielle Senecal posting a team-high 21 digs.

Amanda Curcio led the Cougars with 14 kills while Jassmine Watson finished with a double-double of 12 kills and 17 digs. Setter Karley May tossed 44 assists with Katlin Wheeler providing a game-high 23 digs.

SJC resumes play at the Misericordia Tournament Saturday, September 8 when they face Pitt.-Bradford at 1:00 pm before taking on St. Elizabeth at 3:00 pm.
