Women's Volleyball Earns Five-Set Win Over Albertus Magnus

New Haven, CT| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's volleyball team edged Albertus Magnus College 3-2 on the road on Thursday evening.

The Golden Eagles improve to 3-4 on the season as the Falcons fall to 1-7.

St. Joseph's opened the match with a 25-19 win in the opening frames. The Falcons went on to take sets two, 25-22, and three, 25-15, before SJC even the match with a 25-17 win in the fourth set. The Golden Eagles came out to a 6-1 lead to start the fifth frame and went on to take the set 15-6 and capture the 3-2 win.

Lauren Harmer led the Golden Eagles with 13 kills while hitting at a .571 clip. Fellow middle Amanda Goldstein also finished with 13 kills. Setter Veronica Miessmer dished a career-best 47 assists and completed the double-double with 10 digs.

The Falcons were led by Elayna Beutel with 13 kills. Setter Rachel Pellegrini recorded 23 assists and Joismar Aviles finished with 11 digs.

The Golden Eagles return to Skyline Conference play on Thursday, September 30 when they host SUNY Maritime at 7:00 pm.
