Women's Volleyball Drops Non-Conference Bout with Hunter

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College women's volleyball team suffered a 3-1 non-conference loss to Hunter College in the Danzi Center on Thursday evening.

The Hawks opened the match with a 25-19 win in the first set. The Golden Eagles bounce back with a 26-24 win in the second frame to even that match 1-1. Hunter went on to take the third set 25-18 before securing the match with a 25-22 win in the fourth.

The Golden Eagles slide to 4-8 on the season as the Hawks improve to 3-8.

SJC's Deirdre Carney led all players with a double-double of 11 kills and 16 digs. Amanda Goldstein added nine kills with two blocks. Setter Veronica Miessmer finished with 24 assists with libero Kayla Martin picking up 14 digs.

Alexa Sayson and Mariapaz Lojano led the Hawks with eight kills apiece. Setter Justine Smith tossed a game-best 30 assists with Beverly Wong recording 13 digs.

The Golden Eagles return to the Danzi Center and host Mt. St. Mary College on Saturday, October 9. Game time is set for 12:00 PM.
