Women's Volleyball Splits on Saturday

Annandale, N.Y.| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's volleyball team split a pair of non-conference matchups on the road on Saturday. The Golden Eagles took down SUNY Maritime 3-0 before falling to Bard College 3-2.

SJCLI 3, Maritime 0 (25-23, 25-11, 25-11)

Deirdre Carney led the Golden Eagles with 11 kills and six service aces. Amanda Goldstein knocked down eight kills while hitting at a .500 clip with three aces. Setter Tara Langford tossed 22 assists while serving six aces. Libero Kellianne Dempsey scooped up a team-best seven digs.

Jessica Mele led the Privateers with five kills and six digs with Celyna Custodio adding four. Setter Brooke Kirchner finished with 13 assists and Victoria Cordero matched Mele with six digs.

SJCLI 2, Bard 3 (27-25, 23-25, 21-25, 25-19, 15-12)

Goldstein led the Golden Eagles with 14 kills and Carney added eight. Kaitlynn D'Angelo pitched in with six kills, six digs, and a team-best four aces. Setters Tara Langford and Miessmer dished 20 and 23 assists, respectively. Dempsey led all players with 28 digs.

The Raptors were led by Laurel Edwards with a double-double of 14 kills and 12 digs. Setter Adi David finished with 32 assists and libero Puja Clements recorded 22 digs.

The Golden Eagles return to action when they travel to face Yeshiva University and Baruch College on Sunday, October 17.
