Women's Volleyball Falls in Five in Skyline Finale

Bronxville, NY| The St. Joseph's College women's volleyball team wrapped up the 2021 Skyline schedule with a five-set loss at Sarah Lawrence College on Thursday evening.

The Gryphons jumped out early with a 25-19 win the opening frame before the Golden Eagles even the match with a 26-24 win in set two. The teams exchanged victories in sets three (25-20) and four (27-25) before the hosts secured the match with a 15-11 win in the fifth set.

Amanda Goldstein led the Golden Eagles with 15 kills with Katilynn D'Angelo pitching in with nine kills and 26 digs. Deirdre Carney knocked down eight kills with three aces and five total blocks. Setter Veronica Miessmer dished 31 assists with 14 digs and six service aces. Libero Kellianne Dempsey recorded 29 digs with Kayla Martin finishing with 27.

Davis Mathis led the Gryphons with 11 kills and Georgi Massey pitched in with eight kills while scooping up 24 digs. Setters Mia Rector and Isabel Pecora tossed 14 and 12 assists, respectively and Jane Joncha led all players with 33 digs.

Tonight's results put both the Golden Eagles and the Gryphons at 9-14 on the season with a 6-5 Skyline mark.
