The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) women's volleyball team suffered a 3-2 Skyline Conference loss at the hands of Farmingdale State College in the Danzi Center on Thursday evening.
Top performers
- Sophomore middle Deirdre Carney led the Golden Eagles with 14 kills while hitting at a .367 clip
- Outside hitters Madison Gremli and Jackie Wolf totaled 12 kills apiece with the latter completing a double-double with 10 digs
- Setter Tara Langford dished 39 assists assists and finished with eight digs
- Junior April Sexton recorded 10 digs and served three aces
- Libero Kayla Martin collected a team-best 14 digs
How it happened
- The Golden Eagles jumped out to an early match lead taking sets one and two by scores of 25-20 and 25-22, respectively.
- Farmingdale held off elimination with a 25-21 win in the third set
- The fourth set saw the Rams leading 24-20 before four consecutive points in favor of the Golden Eagles knotted the game 24. However, FSC managed to keep the match alive claiming the next two points and taking the set 26-24
- Farmingdale stormed to an 8-1 lead in the deciding fifth set and behind a team hitting percentage of .833 went on capture the 15-4 win
