The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) women's volleyball team dropped a pair of non-conference contests on the road on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Eagles fell to Ramapo College and Wilkes University both by scores of 3-1

  • Sophomore Jackie Wolfi led the Golden Eagles with a match-best 13 kills and seven service aces

  • Setter Karen Barrera Carreno dished 21 assists 

  • Libero Kellianne Dempsey collected a team-best 13 digs

  • Stephanie Ross led Ramapo with 13 kills with Caleigh Golabek finishing with 10

How it happened
  • The Golden Eagles held a slight lead late in the opening set, 23-22, but the Roadrunners went on to claim three unanswered points for the 25-23 win

  • Ramapo breezed through set two for a 25-14 victory

  • SJLI held off elimination in the third set after jumping out to an 8-1 lead. The Golden Eagles hit .300 as a team and went on to take the set 25-16

  • The Roadrunners bounced back in the fourth set with a 25-14 win capturing the match 3-1

Top performers
  • Junior Madison Gremli led the Golden Eagles with 14 kills while collecting nine digs

  • Setters Katie D'Angelo and Barrera Carreno tossed 15 and eight assists, respectively

  • Libero Kayla Martin picked up  a team-best 10 digs

  • Wilkes was led by Nicole Fitzpatrick with 18 kills 

How it happened
  • A slow start to the match saw the Golden Eagles fall 25-12 in the first set

  • After dropping set two 25-21, SJLI limited Wilkes to just five kills and claimed a 25-20 win in the third frame

  • The Colonels went on to finish off the Golden Eagles with a 25-11 in the fourth and final set

The Golden Eagles resume Skyline Conference action on Tuesday, October 25 when they travel to face St. Joseph's College (Bklyn) at 7:00 PM.
