Gianna Dickson Named ECAC Rookie of the Month
Danbury, CT| The Eastern Collegiate Athletic Association (ECAC) released its monthly award winners on Wednesday morning and amongst the winners was freshman Gianna Dickson of the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's cross country team, who was named Metro Region Rookie of the Month for September.
Dickson opened the 2021 season with a 24th-place finish at the Adelphi Invitational on September 3. The freshman posted a 5k time of 21:30.70 and placed third among Division III runners.
The following weekend, Dickson took first place at the Purchase Invitational with a 21:24.4 6k time and powered SJC to a first-place finish. She finished September with a fourth-place finish at the Bard Invitational, leading St. Joseph's to a second-place result with a 6k time of 25:27.4.
Dickson was named Skyline Conference Runner of the Week on September 20 after claiming consecutive Rookie of the Week accolades on September 8 and 13.
The Hauppauge, NY native collects SJC's first ECAC monthly honor since Meagan Haviland was named Metro Runner of the Month for October 2018.
