Cross Country Hosts SJC Invitational on Saturday

Kings Park, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's and men's cross country teams hosted the SJC Invitational at Sunken Meadow State Park on Saturday afternoon and turned in second and 14th-place finishes, respectively.

The women posted a team score of 65 and trailed first-place St. Thomas Aqinas by 37 points.

Freshman Gianna Dickson was SJC's top runner, having finished in 10th place with a 5k time of 21:23.29. Sophomore Marissa Degni took 11th place with a time of 21:23.55.

Freshman Melanie Walsh (21:30.81) was 15th, junior Emily Venturi (21:36.91) was 16th, and senior Caleigh Capek (21:56.93) was 22nd. 

The men had 323 points and were third among Skyline Conference teams. Monroe College finished first with a team score of 50.

Powering the SJC men was Matt Lopez, who took 12th place with an 8k time of 29:20.14. Lopez was third among Division III runners at the event.

Anthony Hristidis placed 61st (33:29.62) and Raymond LaPorte was 83rd (36:07.57).

The Golden Eagles return to action on Sunday, October 24, when they compete at the Skyline Conference Championships at Hudson Valley Sports Dome.
