Makulik Named Skyline Rookie of the Week

New York, NY| Freshman Victoria Makulik garnishes the Skyline Conference Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week honors for her efforts on the court last week, as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon. Makulik was joined by among the winners by classmate Victoria Panicola who appeared on the women's tennis Weekly Honor Roll.

Makulik earned a pair of wins at the No. 2 singles slot as the Golden Eagles notched victories over Staten Island (5-4) and Purchase (8-1).  She posted a 7-5, 6-3 decision on Sept. 22 against the College of Staten Island. In the match against Purchase College she come back from a 0-6 deficit in the first set and won her match by the score of 6-4 and 10-4. She also added an 8-5 victory at No. 2 doubles. Makulik remains undefeated in singles action and she earned her second consecutive Skyline Rookie of the Week honor.

Freshman Victoria Penicola is currently on a six-match winning streak, and has not lost a set in that time span. This week she won her No. 5 single against CSI 6-4, 6-0 and help the Golden Eagels take the doubles point defeating her opponent 8-5. She was again successful in the No. 5 singles against Skyline rival Purchase as she won in straight set 6-4, 6-0. She completed the series sweep with a 8-1 victory in her doubles match.
