Lou Doria Lifts Baseball Over Old Westbury, 4-3, 12-0, in Doubleheader Sweep

Patchogue, NY| Lou Doria launched two homeruns in as many games as the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) Golden Eagles swept the SUNY Old Westbury Panthers, 4-3, 12-0, at Gregg Alfano Field on Saturday Afternoon. The Golden Eagles are now 19-9 (12-2 Skyline) while the Panthers slide to 16-15 (6-8 Skyline).

Game 1

OW 3, SJC 4

The first game featured a pitcher's duel where both team where held scoreless for the first five innings. Old Westbury broke through the scoreless bout in the top of the six, when the Panthers started the frame with a hit batsman and a double drove in the first run. With two outs and runners in scoring position, Old Westbury plated two more runs courtesy of an RBI single to left field to hold a 3-0 advantage.

SJC answered back in the bottom of the sixth frame, with Crafa on second and Britt on second, Doria came up to bat with two outs and sent a ball over the fence for a three-run homer to tie the game 3-3.

After a scoreless seventh, Crafa singled to start the inning and stole second  before Anthony Bonilla single to left field to bring home Crafa to capture the 4-3 win.
Britt and Crafa tallied two hits in the contest, and Britt scored one run while Crafa tallied two runs.

Nick Clemente received the start as he went 6.2 innings, allowed seven hits, and struck out two batters. Anthony Caminiti earned the win –his first as a Golden Eagle –holding the Panthers scoreless in his 2.1 innings.

 

Game 1

OW 0, SJC 12

In the nightcap, SJC got the scoring started in the second inning when Dan Campanelli led off the inning with a single to left field. After a hit by a pitch and a sac bunt, Crafa singled through the right side to plate Campanelli for the 1-0 lead.

The Golden Eagles tacked on another pair of runs, when Doria showcased his strength launching the ball over the left field fence to drive in Britt for the 3-0 advantage.
In the fourth, Crafa reached third after a leadoff double and took third after an error, he later scored when Bonilla hit a sac fly to the centerfielder. Later in the inning Dylan Piscitelli singled to right field to plate Burnett as the Golden Eagles' lead increased by five (5-0).

SJC continued with the hot bats tallying four runs with three hits in the fifth, before scoring three runs in the sixth to seal the 12-0 win and the doubleheader sweep over Old Westbury.

PJ Martino went the distance for the Golden Eagles tossing a complete game shutout, the team's seventh shutout of the season, striking out three batters and allowing six hits on the day.

Crafa had a 3-for-4 day driving in three runs and scoring a pair, while Tyler Sanderson went 2-for-3 tallied an RBI and scored two runs.

The Golden Eagles will now take on Skyline Conference rival Farmingdale St. in the team's senior day tomorrow, April 22 at 12 PM.
