Women's Basketball Upended by Mount St. Mary, 58-44, on Senior Day

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College(L.I.) women's basketball were upset on Senior Day dropping a, 58-44, contest to Mount St. Mary College on Saturday afternoon at the Danzi Center. The Golden Eagles conclude its 2015-16 season with a 7-18 record (4-12 Skyline) as the Mount St. Mary improve to 13-12 (10-6 Skyline).

From the tip, St. Joseph's had an uphill battle, but never gave up.  After the first ten minutes of action the Golden Eagles took an 11-10 lead. 

The Knights started the second quarter with a 13-3 run taking a 24-13 lead at the 1:57 mark. Jackie Zizzo hit a three-pointer with 40 seconds left to play to close the gap by eight (27-19) at the end of the half.  

In the third, the Blue and Gold stayed within striking distance 37-27 with 3:55 left in the third quarter. The Knights pulled away by as much as 16 as they close the third with a 46-30 lead.

The Golden Eagles opened the final quarter on a 6-2 run to cut their deficit by eight (46-32) with 7:21 left to play. The two teams continued with their back-and-forth battle but Mount St. Mary got the best of the Golden Eagles 58-44.  

Andrea Iavrone finished with 12 rebounds, making her the SJC leader in most rebounds in a single season, she also finished with five points and three assists.  Rynese Smith led the Golden Eagles with 12 points and four assists.
