Lady Eagles Trounce Sarah Lawrence For Fifth Straight Win

Patchogue, N.Y. – The St. Joseph's Golden Eagles (9-4) dominated Sarah Lawrence (1-7) in every aspect of the game on Tuesday night. The Eagles showed their depth, starting the reserve players in the 4-0 victory against the Gryphons.

The Gryphons lacked the legs of the Eagles from the start. Just two minutes into the game, Jaclyn Hughes (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North) beat the keeper to give St. Joseph's the early advantage.

The Golden Eagles were relentless, firing 27 shots at the busy Gryphons keeper, Tori Close. Emily Garcia (Central Islip, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) added a goal in the 31st minute. Kathryn Condron (Ridge, N.Y./Longwood) found the net in the 38th minute. Two minutes later, Condron found Lauren Heschl (Medford, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) for her second of the season.

The Eagles showed great sportsmanship in the second half against the overwhelmed Gryphons defense.  The only shot that the Eagles took was a header by Hughes that went right into the hands of Tori Close who finished the night with fifteen saves.

Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week, Cristiana Votta (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) got a break from goalkeeping, as she got the start up front for the Eagles.

The Lady Eagles will travel to Farmingdale, Friday at 3 P.M. to take on their Skyline Conference rival.
