St. Joseph’s Well Represented at the Suffolk Marathon

Patchogue, NY| Sunday marked the running of the first inaugural Suffolk County Marathon, and amongst the event's participants was St. Joseph's College (L.I.) cross country team member Erin MacDonell and 14 other cross country team alumni.

Of the St. Joe's contingency, 12 runners participated in the half-marathon and two in the full-marathon. Both the half and the full started and finished at Heckscher State Park, but the full ran along 27A before looping in Holbrook, while the half looped at Gerard Blvd. in West Sayville.

MacDonell, a sophomore, performed well, finishing first in the 16-19 age group of the half-marathon with a time of 1:52:15. Other winners included Paul Milazzo, who joined the St. Joseph's cross country team in 2010 after serving in the Marines. Milazzo ran with the Golden Eagles until 2012, and finished first in the veteran's half-marathon with a time of 1:24:20.
