Cross Country Impresses at Purchase Invitational

Bronx, NY| The St. Joseph's College women's and men's cross country teams turned in impressive second and third-place performances, respectively, at the Purchase College Invitational at Van Cortland Park in the Bronx on Saturday afternoon.

Senior Erin MacDonell earned her second first-place finish in as many attempts this season with a 23:48.79 6k time in the women's event that featured 14 teams.

Freshman Meagan Haviland finished seventh (25:27.23) and junior Abigail Lehr took 15th (26:28.10). Senior Amanda Sprague (26:39.32) and junior Taylor Darby (27:59.95) rounded out the women's scoring contingent with 16th and 28th-place finishes.

In the men's 8k run--which featured teams from 15 schools--junior Ryan Haun posted a time of 28:16.79 which was good enough for fourth place. Senior James Dachille finished one spot behind in fifth place (28:36.36), and sophomore Nick DeLuca took 13th (29:41.11).

Freshman Thomas Newham finished 36th (32:10.5) and junior Daniel Antonawich 74th (35:26.27).
