Women’s XC Places Second at Golden Eagle Invitational, Men Take Third

Farmingdale, NY| The St. Joseph's College women's and men's cross country teams placed second and third, respectively, at the inaugural Golden Eagle Invitational at Bethpage State Park on Saturday afternoon. 

The women's team, which collected 98 points, second to only Division II St. Thomas Aquinas (31), was paced by junior Meagan Havilad, who placed second with a 5k time of 18:34.5.

Senior Karli  Murphy took 15th place (20:01.2) and sophomore Caleigh Capeck finished in 22nd place with a time of 20:16.8.

The men (118 points) placed behind St. Thomas Aquinas (54) and SUNY Maritime (58). Freshman Ryan Wison led the way with an 8k time of 27:22.2 and a seventh-place finish.

Sophomore Dennis O'Rourke took eighth (27:24.9) and senior Nick DeLuca finished in 34th with a time of 28:57.9.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, October 19 when they host the 20th Annual St. Joseph's Invitational at Sunken Meadow State Park at 12:00 pm.
