Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Nancy Marroquin – St.
Joseph’s-L.I.
Junior, Patchogue, NY/Patchogue-Medford HS
Marroquin went 2-0 at both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles as St.
Joseph’s-L.I. notched victories over Yeshiva (9-0) and St.
Joseph’s-Brooklyn (9-0)…posted a 6-1, 6-2 win in
singles action against Yeshiva and a 10-0 victory versus St.
Joseph’s-Brooklyn…marked her sixth win in singles
competition this season.
Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week
Morgan Holbrook – Mount Saint Mary
Freshman, Montgomery, NY/Valley Central HS
Holbrook recorded a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 2 singles and paired
up for an 8-2 win at the No. 2 doubles flight on Oct. 13 as Mount
Saint Mary edged Purchase, 5-4, in its lone match of the
week…named the Skyline Rookie of the Week for the fifth
time.
Men's Soccer Player of the Week
John Dettori – St.
Joseph’s-L.I.
Senior, Forward, West Babylon, NY/West Babylon HS
Dettori earns his third Skyline Player of the Week citation of the
season after tallying seven goals on 18 shots over three
contests…tied a program record with five goals on Oct. 11 in
the Golden Eagles’ 9-0 win over Yeshiva…scored the
game-winning goal in the 34th minute on Oct. 13 as St.
Joseph’s-L.I. posted a 2-0 win over first-place
Sage…scored the team’s lone goal in a 3-1 loss to NJCU
on Oct. 8…has scored 12 goals on the season, including four
game-winning tallies.
Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week
J.T. Famularo – Farmingdale State
Freshman, Midfielder, Levittown, NY/Island Trees HS
Famularo scored a pair of goals – including his third
game-winner of the season – as Farmingdale State earned a 4-0
victory over Purchase on Oct. 10…had a team-high four shots
on Oct. 13 in a 2-1 loss to NYU-Poly…leads FSC in goals
(six) and points (13) this season…named the Skyline Rookie
of the Week for the second time.
Women's Volleyball Players of the Week
Joanie Cooney – The Sage Colleges
Junior, Setter, Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa HS
Cooney averaged 9.29 assists and 2.43 digs over 14 sets and
garnered All-Tournament distinction at the Ithaca
Invitational…added 0.64 kills and 0.36 service aces per
set…leads the Gators in assists (744) and ranks third in
digs (254)…named the Skyline Player of the Week for the
second time this season.
Julianne Tierney – St.
Joseph’s-L.I.
Sophomore, Setter, Bethpage, NY/Bethpage HS
Tierney compiled 120 assists (10,0 per set) and seven aces as St.
Joseph’s-L.I. posted a 3-1 mark on the week…averaged
1.83 digs per set…recorded 42 assists in a 3-0 win over CCNY
on Oct. 13 and 34 assists against Sarah Lawrence on Oct.
13.
Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Week
Heather Ferchland – St.
Joseph’s-L.I.
Freshman, Middle Hitter, Selden, NY/Centereach HS
Ferchland amassed 40 kills (3.33 per set) with a .330 hitting
percentage as St. Joseph’s-L.I. won three of its four
contests on the week…added nine digs and four
aces…registered a game-high 18 kills on Oct. 13 in a 3-0 win
over Sarah Lawrence…named the Skyline Rookie of the Week for
the second time.
Women's Soccer Player/Rookie of the Week
Shanice Robe – Mount Saint Mary
Freshman, Forward, Valley Stream, NY/Valley Stream Central
HS
Robe led Mount Saint Mary to a 3-0 week with seven goals and one
assist on 17 shots as the Knights posted victories over Maritime
(11-0), Purchase (3-0) and Denison (2-0)…tallied hat tricks
versus Maritime and Purchase…scored game-winning goals
against PC and Denison and now leads Division III with nine
game-winners…has 21 goals and 43 points on the
year…named the Skyline Rookie of the Week for the fourth
time.
Men’s Cross Country Runner/Rookie of the
Week
Juan Reyes-Alvarez – The Sage Colleges
Freshman, Latham, NY/Shaker HS
Reyes-Alvarez finished fourth overall at the Green Mountain
College Invitational on Oct. 13 with a time of 27:17 on the 8K
course…field consisted of 50 runners…Sage placed
third in the seven-team field.
Women’s Cross Country Runner/Rookie of the
Week
Alaina Krueger – The Sage Colleges
Freshman, Selkirk, NY/Ravena Coeymans Selkirk HS
Competing on Oct. 13 at the Green Mountain College Invitational,
Krueger captured the individual title with a time of 20:32 on the
5K course…field consisted of 50 competitors…Sage
placed first in the six-team field for the program’s
first-ever meet title in its fifth-ever competition.
