Laurent, Ivaronne and Mazza Appear on Skyline Weekly Honor Rolls

New York, NY| The Skyline Conference released its weekly awards Monday afternoon, and amongst the winners were three St. Joseph’s College (L.I.) student-athletes—Andy Laurent (men’s basketball), Andrea Iavarone (women’s basketball) and Kim Mazza (women’s swimming)—who all appeared on Weekly Honor Rolls in their respective sports.

Andy Laurent (Jr.) – Men’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll

Laurent averaged 25 points- and 7.7 rebounds-per-game in thee contests last week through which the men’s basketball team posted a 1-2 record. The Amityville, NY native dropped 22 points in a 91-90 OT win over Medgar Evers on Tuesday before recording a career-best 41 points and 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the season when the sides met again in the Pablo Coto Tip-Off Tournament third-place match on Sunday. Despite the Golden Eagles’ 109-106 double-OT loss in the contest, Laurent was named to the All-Tournament team.

Andrea Iavarone (So.) – Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll

Last week’s Co-Player of the Week, Andrea Iavarone, posted two double-doubles in three outings last week. Iavrone went 10-19 from the field shooting a game-high of 23 points and 14 rebounds. She then went 10-11 from the free throw line against Claremont-Mudd-Scrips scoring 24 points, grabbing 10 rebounds in the game on Friday night. In her final game of the week against Centenary (N.J.) she was held to just 16 points and had seven rebounds. She was named to the Hunter College All-Tournament team.

Kim Mazza (Sr.) – Women’ Swimming Weekly Honor Roll

The senior posted three season-best times in the 100 yard free (2nd, 1:01.38), the 200 yard free (1st, 2:12.12) and the 500 yard free (1st, 6:05.72) during a week that saw the Golden Eagles face SUNY Maritime and Sarah Lawrence on Friday and SUNY Purchase on Saturday. In all, Mazza earned one first-place finishes, four second-place finishes and one third-place finishes on the week.
