Bio

Sheila Rodgers has been the head coach of the Equestrian team at St. Joseph’s College since 1987, making her the longest tenured current coach at St. Joseph’s College. She became a professional coach in 1966. Since that year, Sheila has been showing hunters and jumper as well as combined training. She also has been training riders in Equitation, hunters, jumpers, and combined training.

Rodgers established TP Farm in Lake Grove, N.Y. from 1966-1970. From 1970-1971, she was an instructor at Old Mill Farm in Jericho, N.Y. under George Morris. After her time at Old Mill Farm, she spent three years as a freelance trainer. From 1975 to 1985, Rodgers established Oak Haven Farm in Medford, N.Y. From 1977-1978, Rodgers was the President of the Long Island Chapter of the Professional Horseman’s Association.

In 1985, she established Good Shepherd Farm in Yaphank, N.Y., a farm that she still operates today. Good Shepherd serves as the home competition grounds of the St. Joseph’s College Equestrian team.

During her time here at St. Joseph’s, Rodgers has had two IHSA teams winning the Regional Championship in 2001 and 2010. In 2010, she was inducted into the St. Joseph’s College Athletic Hall of Fame. That year, she also established a Good Shepherd Farm IEA Team. Since then, she has become a certified trainer in the US Hunter Jumper Association.
