Drew Outshoots Eagles in Non-Conference Game

Patchogue, N.Y.—The Golden Eagles (2-6) suffered a tough loss on the soccer field yesterday to the Drew University Rangers (5-1-2), who have now tallied five consecutive wins.

Drew came out strong with their first goal by junior midfielder Ricardo Castro in the fourth minute of the contest. The Rangers scored again fifteen minutes later off of a tipped shot by midfielder John Nogiewich.  The score was 2-0 Drew at the half.

The Golden Eagles attempted to push back both offensively and defensively, taking four shots and holding Drew to a 2-0 lead for another 30 minutes. The Rangers could not be held off for too long however and scored their third goal of the game off of an attempted clear by St. Joseph's. The score would escalate to 6-0 by the 90th minute of the game.

George Ekstrom (Hauppauge N.Y./ Hauppauge) and Gaetano Innamorato (West Babylon N.Y. / West Babylon) each had a shot on goal and keeper Niko Petratos (North Babylon N.Y. / North Babylon) finished the second half with three saves.

The Golden Eagles will play their first Skyline Conference game of the season, at home, on Saturday against Maritime at 2 p.m.
