Sports Medicine On-Campus Staff
On-campus, there are four certified athletic trainers. We are allied healthcare providers who hold national certification and New York State licenses to practice Athletic Training. We are your first line of healthcare access. Come see us with any questions or concerns about your health or athletic performance. We have a strong education on a wide array of topics related to healthcare and can help with things like nutritional issues (including information about supplements), weight training or performance improvement, and general medical conditions. We are available for injury and illness evaluation daily and are present at every on-campus, official practice, and all home competitions. The athletic training facilities are open for treatment and rehabilitation daily.

Head Athletic Trainer
Kamvakis got his start in athletic training while working on his undergraduate degree at St. Lawrence University. He became a student trainer under the supervision of SLU Head Athletic Trainer Ron Waske, the trainer for the New York Islanders when they won four consecutive Stanley Cup titles during the 1980s. Kamvakis worked with most of the sports at St. Lawrence, including football, hockey, lacrosse, basketball, and soccer, while earning a bachelor's degree in biology.
After graduating, Kamvakis served as a graduate assistant trainer at Ithaca College for two years and earned a master's degree in physical education. He then accepted a position at the Onondaga Sports Medicine Clinic in Syracuse, N.Y.
He spent 25 years at NTI and joined the St. Joseph's sports medicine team in 2020. His primary team responsibilities are women's soccer, men's basketball, and women's lacrosse.
Taylor Kulak – tkulak@sjcny.edu
Associate Athletic Trainer
Taylor Kulak is a native of Reading, Pennsylvania, and joined the sports medicine team at St. Joseph’s College in 2018. Kulak earned her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from East Stroudsburg University in 2015 and went on to attend the California University of Pennsylvania where she earned a Master’s of Science in Athletic Training while serving as a graduate assistant at Washington and Jefferson College in Washington, Pennsylvania. At Washington and Jefferson College, Kulak was the primary athletic trainer for the men’s & women’s soccer, women’s basketball, and women’s water polo teams.
In 2017-2018, Kulak worked at Hartwick College where she covered football, women’s soccer, women’s field hockey, men’s & women’s basketball, and men’s lacrosse.
Her primary team responsibilities at St. Joseph's are women's volleyball, women's basketball, and baseball.
Andre Venner - avenner@sjcny.edu
Assistant Athletic Trainer
Andre Venner is a native of Rockland County, New York, and joined the St. Joseph’s College Sports Medicine Staff in July of 2019. Venner earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from SUNY Cortland in 2014 and went on to receive his Masters of Science degree in Exercise & Sport Sciences from Ithaca College in 2016 with a concentration in human performance. While at Ithaca, Venner was awarded a graduate assistantship with Cornell University and worked primarily with the Big Red football program for two seasons.
Prior to joining the staff here at St. Joseph’s, Venner was an assistant athletic trainer at Kean University during the academic years from 2017 to 2019 where he primarily covered the men’s soccer and lacrosse teams. During the 2016 – 2017 academic year, Venner served as an athletic training resident for the University of Connecticut and worked primarily for the football program along with the men’s and women’s cross country/track & field squads. He also had the opportunity to work with the New York Jets as an intern athletic training student in the summer of 2013 during training camp.
His current team assignments are cross country, men's and women's tennis, women's swimming, and men's lacrosse.
Kelsey McCulley – kmcculley@sjcny.edu
Assistant Athletic Trainer
Kelsey McCulley was hired as an Assistant Athletic Trainer in the fall of 2021.
McCulley arrived from Pivot Physical Therapy in Maryland where she was contracted to a local high school to provide prevention, emergency care, evaluation, and treatment of injuries for student-athletes.
From 2017 to 2019, McCulley worked as an on-site athletic trainer for Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League games. Prior stops include The Ross School in East Hampton, NY, where McCulley served as a Wellness department associate and girls volleyball coach from 2016 to 2018.
A 2016 graduate of Colby-Sawyer College with a B.S. in Athletic Training, McCulley received her M.S. in Advanced Athletic Training from the University of South Florida in the spring of 2022. She's been a member of the National Atheltic Trainers Association since 2012.
Team assignments: men's soccer, men's golf, men's volleyball, and softball.
