First Place Panthers Pounce on Eagles in Romp

Patchogue, N.Y. – Old Westbury (13-3, 8-0 SKY) dropped the St. Joseph's (4-11, 2-6 SKY) men's basketball team today in a Skyline Conference game at the Danzi Center by a lopsided score of 118-63.  The first place Panthers took an early 15-0 lead in the opening minutes of the contest and never looked back.

St. Joseph's was led by Will Fortune (Selden, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) with 13 points.  Keith Anderson (Central Islip, N.Y./North Babylon) and Jordan Kowalski (North Babylon, N.Y./Abilene) each finished with 12.

Old Westbury's top scorer was Josh Hill with 26 points.   Darnell Chavis (24), Tyrik Tucker (23), Kerel Mitchell (17), Ty Moore (18) all finished in double figures for the Panthers.

The Eagles struggled from the field all game at 34% and Old Westbury was superb at 59%.  At the half, the scoreboard was tilted in the favor of the Panthers at 62-19.

Up next for the Eagles is a five-game Skyline road swing starting with NYU-Polytechnic (Tuesday) and Mount Saint Mary (Thursday).   In fact, the rest of their schedule is against Skyline opponents.  The team will play their next home game on February 2 when they host Polytech at 5:15 p.m. as part of a doubleheader with the women's team.
