Junior Lyndsay Smocer (2-for-3) opened the scoring in the bottom of the first when her RBI single to right center scored senior Theresa Cardello (2-for-3).
SJC held that one-run lead until the fourth inning (1-1), but went up 3-1 in the bottom of the sixth via freshman Zoe Kelly's (1-for-3) two-RBI double to left field.
Sarah Lawrence brought one back in the top of the seventh (3-2), and despite being in a bases-loaded situation, SJC fended off any further comeback attempt and clinched a 3-2 victory.
Picking up the win for St. Joseph's was Cardello (4-2), who struck out six and allowed two earned runs in a complete-game effort.
SJC 5, Sarah Lawrence 0
Up 1-0 headed to the bottom of the third, SJC extended its lead to three runs (3-0) when sophomore Elise Grau (1-for-3) scored both sophomore Ashley Accardi (2-for-3) and Smocer (1-for-3).
Sophomore Franzelyn Russo made it a four-run game (4-0) with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fourth and Smocer wrapped the scoring in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI-double to right that sent senior Kristen Arbiter (2-for-2) home.
On the mound for the hosts was senior Ashley Blydenburgh (4-2), who recorded seven strikeouts in seven scoreless innings.
The Golden Eagles return to action on Sunday, April 8 when they host FDU-Florham for a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 12:00 pm.
