Chestertown, M.D. – The women's lacrosse team (0-1) opened its season up with a tough 14-7 loss to the Shorewomen of Washington College (1-0).
St. Joseph's kept it close in the first half being down only 6-4 at the sound of the horn. The Eagles held their own with the Shorewomen, keeping the lead to just one with 21:10 left in the game. However, Washington College rallied off six unanswered goals to cruise to the victory.
Caitlynn Webber (Eastport, N.Y. / Eastport – South Manor), Jackie Myers (Coram, N.Y. / Patchogue – Medford), and Heather Ferchland (Seldon, N.Y. / Centereach) each scored two goals; Webber added two assists and Ferchland recorded one. Nicole Lyman (West Babylon, N.Y. / West Babylon) netted the other goal for St. Joseph's. Erin O'Conner (Nesconset, N.Y. / St. Anthony's) recorded 11 saves in the game.
