Nicole Lyman Named to ECAC Mid-Atlantic All-Star Team

CENTERVILLE, Mass. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its 2014 Division III Mid-Atlantic Women's Lacrosse All-Stars. Headlining the list is Offensive Player of the Year, sophomore Erica Geremia (West Genesee, N.Y.) of Cortland State, Defensive Player of the Year, junior Rachel Hughes (Annandale, N.J.) of William Smith College and Co-Rookies of the Year, freshman Hunter Waldau (Central Square, N.Y.) of Morrisville State College and classmate Kelly Wall (Clifton Park, N.Y.) of the College at Brockport. The voting for the 2014 ECAC Division III Mid-Atlantic Women's Lacrosse All-Star teams and major award winners was completed by head coaches within the ECAC Division III Mid-Atlantic Women's Lacrosse membership.

Geremia led the Red Dragons to an overall record of 22-1, which included a trip to the 2014 NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse semifinals. She accounted for 124 points on 54 goals and 70 assists, as well as 19 games of at least five points. Geremia finished the season third in the country in total points and her assist total was good enough for a tie for sixth nationally. She notched 25 points in four NCAA tournament games, registering at least four points in each contest. In the NCAA second and third rounds, Geremia posted back-to-back eight-point efforts in victories over Mount Union College and the University of Redlands. She was also named an Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division III First Team All America and the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Player of the Year.

Hughes was a ball hawk for the Herons during the 2014 season, setting a new program benchmark with 50 caused turnovers. She caused at least one turnover in 14 of her 16 games this season, eight of which resulted in at least four caused turnovers. In addition, Hughes secured 32 draws and corralled 56 ground balls for William Smith this season. For the second consecutive season, she was named an IWLCA All-America, earning a place on the third team while also being named the Liberty League Defensive Player of the Year. 

Both Waldau and Wall proved to be key contributors to their respective team's success this spring. Waldau found the back of the net 55 times for the Mustangs and added six assists for 61 total points. She tallied six goals on three separate occasions and registered at least five points six different times. Waldau was also named the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Rookie of the Year. In her first season for the Golden Eagles, Wall started all 17 games and recorded 47 goals and 16 assists for 63 points. She collected 31 ground balls and was credited with three game winning goals. Wall was also cited as an IWLCA All-Region Second Team selection and was tabbed as the SUNYAC Rookie of the Year.
