Indoor Track Begins 2015-16 Campaign at the Bill Ward Invitational

South Huntington, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's and women's indoor track and field teams kicked their 2015-16 seasons at the Bill Ward Invitational at St. Anthony's HS on Tuesday afternoon.

Junior Ashley Arquer ran a program-best 8.18 in the 60-meter dash, breaking her own record of 8.22, which she set last season. Arquer also finished in eighth place in the long jump event, posting a 4.73.

Junior Cassie Costarelli ran a seventh-place time of 6:15.16 in the mile run. Freshman Jennifer Holownia earned a tenth-place finish in the 400-meter run with a 1:04.97 time.

Junior Jessica Pierno turned in a 2:42.08 performance in the 800 meter run, which was good for an eighth-place finish.

Meanwhile, on the men's side, freshman Daniel Antonawich earned a fourth place finish with a 9.86 in the 60-meter hurdle.

Matthew Haughn earned a 12-place finish in the 400-meter run with a 1:00.41 time.

Nick Russo went for 5.54m in the long jump, which was good for a seventh-place finish.

SJC's Alex Becker earned a fifth-place finish (10.52m) in the shot put event. Sophomore Chris Maher and junior Nick DellaPace were individually sixth (9.25m) and 8th (7.37) in the event.

Maher and DellaPace also participated in the weight throw event, with Maher finishing fourth with a 10 meter toss, and DellaPace (9.90m) fifth. Becker (9.45m) and Joseph Wetzel (7.92m) both placed sixth and eighth, respectively.

The Golden Eagles will return to action after the New Year, when they host the St. Joseph's College 2nd Annual Winter Invitational on Saturday, January 16 at St. Anthony's HS. The event will kick-off at 9:30 AM.
