Haviland and Lopez Earn NJAC Weekly Honors

Pitman, NJ| The New Jersey Athletic Conference released its weekly winners and amongst them were junior Meagan Haviland and freshman Matt Lopez of the St. Joseph's College track and field team.

Haviland was named Women's Track Athlete of the Week after turning in a fifth-place out of 13 in the 3000-meters with her best time of the season of 11:13.88. Her selection marks the third time in program history that a Golden Eagle has been selected as the NJAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week. Haviland currently holds the conference's third-best time in the 3,000 meters this season.

Lopez picked up Rookie of the Week on the men's side after he placed eighth in the mile with a time of 4:38.60 and anchored the 4x400 relay team that turned in a time of 3:50.71. Lopez is the first Golden Eagle to be named NJAC Men's Indoor Rookie of the Week since St. Joseph's-
Long Island became an NJAC track & field affiliate member institution in 2011-12. He currently holds the conference's second-best time in the mile this season.

Haviland, Lopez and the Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, January 11 when they participate in the TCNJ Lion Indoor Invitational at the NYC Armory.
