Women’s Tennis Tops Farmingdale, 8-1
Farmingdale, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's tennis team defeated Farmingdale State, 8-1, in a Skyline Conference contest on Monday evening.
The Golden Eagles improve to 5-2 overall on the year with the win as the Rams slip to 9-3.
Juniors Amanda Post and Nora Burnett picked up SJC's first victory, 8-2, at second doubles and set the tone for the Golden Eagles to sweep the doubles matches.
Burnett's 6-0, 6-1 win at fourth singles put SJC on the brink of victory, and freshman Taylor Hansom's 6-3, 6-0 victory at third singles finished off Farmingdale.
Senior Victoria Panicola picked-up a 6-3, 4-6, 10-3 victory at second singles, and junior Mackenzie Martocci won 6-3, 6-2 at fifth singles.
SJC remains perfect in conference play and ties SUNY Purchase, who is also 3-0, in first place in the Skyline standings.
The Golden Eagles return to action on Friday, October 12 when they host the College of Staten Island at 5:00 pm.
