Six Golden Eagles Receive Skyline All-Conference Baseball Accolades
New York, NY| Six members of the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) baseball team earned Skyline All-Conference accolades when the conference released its end-of-season awards on Monday afternoon.
Junior Kevin Czeczotka, sophomore Ryan Decoursey, and senior Anthony Raucci graced the First-Team while sophomore Paul Gugliuzzo, junior Charles Rainone, and senior Tyler Sanderson appeared on the Second-Team.
In 40.0 innings and seven appearances this season, Czeczotka posted a 4-1 record with a 2.25 ERA. The starting pitcher struck out 32 batters and held the opposition to a .191 batting average.
Decoursey posted the fourth-best batting average in the conference (.407) and led the Golden Eagles in RBIs (20), home runs (3), doubles (6), hits (33), and stolen bases (8). Raucci, a 2018 All-Conference Second-Team selection, hit .367 with 17 RBIs, six doubles, a team-leading three triples, and seven stolen bases. The shortstop was second in the conference with 72 assists.
Gugliuzzo played in 21 contests in the outfield, posting a .351 batting average with two home runs and seven RBIs. At first base, Rainone hit .360 with 14 RBIs and seven doubles, and Sanderson hit .333 with 11 RBI's, and seven doubles. The third baseman was a Second-Team selection in 2018 and turned five double plays.
SJC was eliminated from the Skyline Conference Championship tournament on Friday, May 7 with a pair of losses as the third seed.
