DeFina and Raucci Named Skyline Scholar-Athletes of the Year
New York, NY| Junior Jenna DeFina (softball) and senior Anthony Raucci (baseball) received 2021 Skyline Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors in their respective sports on Tuesday as announced on the conference's website.
A Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award is presented to the first-team All-Conference performer who carries the highest grade point average (minimum 3.30) for the semester in which the student-athlete competes.
DeFina, the 2019 Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year, led SJC in batting average (.537), at-bats (80), runs (29), hits (43), stolen bases (16), on-base percentage (.580), and slugging percentage (.613) and was 11th in the nation in batting average.
The outfielder led the conference in stolen bases and appeared on the All-Conference First-Team for the second time in her career. DeFina also garnered NFCA All-Northeast Region Third-Team honors and posted a 4.00 GPA for the spring semester.
Raucci appeared on the All-Conference First-Team for the first time in his career and had a 3.85 spring GPA. The shortstop finished among SJC leaders with 29 hits, six doubles, three triples, and a home run in 79 at-bats. Raucci earned a team-best 17 walks while driving in 17 runs, and scoring 16. He stole seven bases and finished the year with a .367 batting average.
