New York, NY| Senior Isaiah Moore's 22 points were not enough in the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's basketball team's (2-5, 2-2 Skyline) 82-76 defeat to Skyline Conference rival Yeshiva University (4-4, 3-2 Skyline) on the road on Tuesday evening.
Moore's 22 points came off of 8-for-18 shooting from the field and led an SJC offense that shot 53.7%.
Also hitting double-figures for the guests were senior Jarred Marrow (4-for-8) and junior Christen Brown (4-for-5) who both registered 10 points apiece.
Senior Trey Kinard contributed eight points and a team-best four rebounds.
Yeshiva's Simcha Halpert (11-for-17) led all players with a game-best 34 points.
SJC opened strong and rode a 12-point lead (39-27) into the break, but the Maccabees reversed their fortunes in the second half.
After falling behind 50-36 4:06 into the period, Yeshiva compiled a 19-5 run to tie the score up at 55 with 9:54 to play in regulation.
Moore's three-pointer 30 seconds later saw the Golden Eagles go back up, 58-55, but 18 of the next 28 points went the way of the hosts, who ran with the lead to the buzzer.
Both teams shot over 50% in the contest but Yeshiva held a marginal edge having converted on 55.8% of its shots.
SJC was the better team beyond the arc (41.2%-40.9%) but struggled in the paint where the side was outrebounded (27-21) and outscored (32-27).
The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, December 9 when they host St. Joseph's College (Brkln) in a Skyline Conference showdown inside the Danzi Center (1:00 pm). Watch/follow the action live here.
