Young Eagles Shoot Well in First Tournament

Sarartoga Springs, N.Y. - The St. Joseph's golf team teed off the season on Saturday, September 8 for a two-day outing at the Dr. Tim Brown Invitational at Saratoga State Park.  The Golden Eagles finished tied for seventh place in the event hosted by Skidmore College.  St. Joseph's top three finishers were playing in their first intercollegiate tournament.

Leading the way for SJC was freshman Christian Bleck (St. James, N.Y./Chaminade), tying for twelfth place overall with a score of 152 (78-74), eight strokes above par.

Fellow freshman Zac Campenelli (Bayport, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point) was the next closest Eagles finisher shooting 160.  Junior Brian Daponte (Farmingville, N.Y./Sachem East) came in at 165 in his first collegiate tournament.

The team returns to the links this Friday as they host the Golden Eagle Invitational at the Island Hills Golf Club in Sayville, N.Y.
