Patchogue, N.Y. – The St. Joseph's College men's soccer team (11-9) ended the regular season with a 9-0 win against their sister school, St. Joseph's College – Brooklyn (2-9) at Danzi Stadium. The Golden Eagles will ride a three-game winning streak, a first place Skyline Conference finish, a first round bye and home-field advantage into next week's Skyline Conference Tournament.
The Eagles started off the night honoring their nine seniors - goalkeeper Chris Muhs (West Babylon, N.Y. / West Babylon), John Dettori (Bay Shore, N.Y. / Bay Shore), Craig Ceruti (Shoreham, N.Y. / Shoreham-Wading River), Dylan Evans (Bohemia, N.Y. / St. John the Baptist), Karol Radomski (Lindenhurst, N.Y. / Lindenhurst), Brendan O'Brien (Mount Sinai, N.Y. / Mount Sinai), Joe Alessi (Shirley, N.Y. / William Floyd), Michael Carroll (Patchogue, N.Y. / Patchogue-Medford), and William Kuhlwilm (West Islip, N.Y. / West Islip).
Michael Carroll sparked the offense with an early goal from the top of the box off a pass by Kuhlwilm. Kulhwilm scored two minutes later from a pass by Brendan O'Brien. John Dettori and Gaetano Innamorato (West Babylon, N.Y. / West Babylon) each scored goals in the first half as the Eagles cruised to a 6-0 lead at the break.
Three players scored their first goals of the season against Brooklyn - Karol Radomski, Kevin Deutsch (Medford, N.Y. / Patchogue-Medford) and Joe Alessi. Alessi had the best game in his four-year career with a hat-trick. His first two goals came at the end of the first half. He opened up the second half with a goal off a pass from Fabio Alves (Holbrook, N.Y. / Sachem East).
The Eagles now await the winner of Saturday's first round Skyline Tournament match featuring #4 NYU-Polytechnic (9-10) vs. #5 Farmingdale State (8-9-1). SJC will face the winner on Wednesday, October 31 at 7:00 p.m. at Danzi Stadium.
