M. Soccer's Alves & Dzus Earn 2013 All-Skyline First Team Honors

Press Release from the Skyline Conference

2013 ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM

NEW YORK, NY –
Junior midfielder Gustavo Trinidad of Sage has been named the Skyline Men's Soccer Player of the Year in voting conducted among the Conference's ten head coaches.

The Skyline coaches also selected Kevin Jardines of Mount Saint Vincent as the 2013 Rookie of the Year, Farmingdale State's Angelo Viteritti the league's Defensive Player of the Year, and James Bruno of Purchase as Coach of the Year.

Trinidad has scored a league-high seven game winning goals and has compiled 25 points on nine goals and seven assists in 17 contests.  The Mamaroneck, N.Y., resident has amassed a team-high 39 shots as the Gators won the Skyline regular season title with a 7-0-2 record.

A two-time Rookie of the Week selection, Jardines leads the conference in shots (85), ranks second in goals (13) and third in points (31) as CMSV notched 12 victories in 2013, a 10-win improvement from a year ago.  The freshman forward has netted four game-winning goals and five assists.

Viteritti, a senior goalkeeper, ranks second in the Skyline in shutouts (seven) while registering 97 saves as Farmingdale State has advanced to the semifinals of the 2013 Skyline Championship and will face Sage on Nov. 6.  The Huntington, N.Y., native owns a save percentage of .829 and a 1.18 goals against average on the year.

Joining Jardines and Viteritti on the All-Conference first team are teammates Matt Garcia, Sean Lockwood and Rob Thompson of Mount Saint Mary; Nick Mauro of Sage; Old Westbury's Adan Cruz-Velasquez; Fabio Alves and Terrence Dzus of St. Joseph's-L.I.; Farmingdale State's Victor Romero; and Junior Sanguina of Purchase.

The second-team All-Conference includes Maritime's Renato Chira-Farfan, Kieran Donnelly and Tim Swinehart; Itamar Ben David of Yeshiva; Mount Saint Mary's Michael Ennis and Brandon Mincher; Esteban Aguilar, Brad Kohel and Enderson Mhilli of Purchase; Farmingdale State's Joe Lipsky; Matthew Burke of NYU-Poly; and Old Westbury's Michael Bayne.

In his first year at Purchase, Bruno has guided the Panthers to a program-best 6-2-1 mark in league play, a dramatic turnaround from last season's 3-6 record in Skyline matches.  Having outscored its opponents by a 42-24 margin, Purchase (9-6-2) earned the No. 2 overall seed in the Skyline Championship and will host third-seeded Mount Saint Mary on Nov. 6.  Bruno is a 1997 graduate of Utica College.
