Zigrosser Gets All-Conference, Four Records Fall at NJAC Championships
New York, N.Y. – The St. Joseph's College men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed at the NJAC Championships Thursday night at the New Balance Track & Field Center and broke four SJC records during the competition.
Overall the women's team finished eighth out of nine teams with 9 points. The men scored 11 points finishing ninth out of nine NJAC squads.
Graduate student AnnMarie Zigrosser (Bayport, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) placed third in the 5000m making her honorable mention for the NJAC All-Conference Team. Her time of 18:54.77 set a new SJC mark.
Sophomore Ashley Arquer (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Copiague) broke her 60m (8.22) and 200m (27.38) records. Sophomore Jessica Pierno (East Patchogue, N. Y. /Bellport) broke her triple jump (9.53m) record.
For the men, freshman Mike O'Shea (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Connetquot), sophomore Tim Elgort (Mount Sinai, N.Y./Mount Sinai, junior Mario Mayen (Center Moriches, N.Y./Center Moriches) and senior Kevin Sanders (Wading River, N.Y./Shoreham-Wading River) combined in the 1600-meter relay to set a new SJC record at 3:28.15.
Mayen will be competing in the ECAC Championships in the 500m on Saturday, March 7 back at the New Balance Track and Field Center.
