Track and Field Completes 2016 Season at ECAC’s

Westfield, MA| Juniors Ashley Arquer, Josiah Hoshyla and Jessica Pierno of the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) outdoor track and field team all competed at the ECAC Championships in Westfield, MA on Wednesday and Thursday afternoon.

Arquer, who entered the two-day championships ranked 24th out of 24 100m sprinters, posted a time of 12.68 to earn a 16th place finish.

In the heptathlon, Pierno improved on her original seeding of 15th out of 15 competitors with a 12th place finish. The East Patchogue, NY broke two St. Joseph's records in the process. On day one her a 1.42m high jump attempt and 27.70 200m dash established new program bests, and on day two Pierno's 4.65m long jump was best-ever in the heptathlon while her 24.08m jevelin throw set a new mark for the team.

Hoshyla became the first male pole vaulter in SJC history to compete at the ECAC Championships, but no heighted his final attempt on Wednesday.
