Garibaldi Named ECAC Metro Volleyball Player of the Week

ECAC Volleyball Players of the Week (for week ending September 29, 2012)

Division III – Metro/Upstate
Player of the Week

Melissa Garibaldi – St. Joseph's College (LI)
Sophomore, Right Side Hitter, Seaford, NY

Garibaldi averaged 3.36 kills and 2.29 digs over 14 sets with nine service aces, eight assists and four blocks as St. Joseph's-L.I. won all four of its matches on the week…had a game-high 16 kills in a 3-2 win over William Paterson on Sept. 25…had 14 kills, four assists and 4 blocks in a 3-1 victory versus USMMA-Kings Point on Sept. 26…registered a game-high 15 kills and five aces on Sept. 29 in a 3-1 win over Manhattanville.

Division III – New England
Player of the Week

Rachel Schroff- Connecticut College
Senior, Right Side Hitter, Palos Verdes, Calif.

Schroff averaged 4.43 kills and 3.14 digs per set in a 1-1 week for the Camels. The right side hitter posted a hitting percentage of .351 while committing just four errors in 77 attempts. She set the tone in her team's 3-0 triumph over Bowdoin on Saturday, collecting 12 kills, seven assists, four service aces, five digs and a pair of blocks. With their win, the Camels ended Bowdoin's 40-match home winning streak. Schroff was also impressive in a 3-1 setback at Tufts on Friday, when she posted a double-double on 19 kills and 17 digs.

Division III – South
Player of the Week

Megan Miller – Stevenson University
Sophomore, Middle Hitter, Middletown, Del.

Miller totaled a career-high 16 kills versus #9 Cortland. She had a career-high five total blocks versus Grove City and Eastern. She averaged 2.88 kills per set and Miller led the team in hitting percentage and blocks and was second in kills. Stevenson went 4-1 last week with a win over #19 Eastern and Johns Hopkins who was receiving votes in last week's AVCA Division III Coaches Poll.
