Kings Point, N.Y. - The Lady Golden Eagles (13-9, 5-1 Skyline) lost their second straight contest falling to Merchant Marine Academy (18-8), 3-1, in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday.
The Eagles started the game sluggish, losing the first set, 25-8, but rebounded in the second set, topping the Mariners 25-22.
The Lady Eagles wouldn't garner another win on the night, eventually losing in the the third set 25-19 and losing in the fourth set 25-17.
Heather Ferchland (Selden, N.Y./ Centereach) led the Golden Eagles with 10 kills; Melissa Garibaldi ( Seaford, N.Y. / Island Trees) and Courtney Wickline (Medford, N.Y./ Bellport) tallied five assists each; Julianne Tierney (Bethpage, N.Y./ Bethpage) protected the backline with 13 digs, while Erin Kelly (Ridge, N.Y./ Longwood) added 11 digs of her own.
The Lady Eagles have a busy weekend ahead of them as they will host the two-day SJC Ttournament. Their first game in the tournament will be against New Jersey City (5-18) on Friday at 4 p.m.
