Men’s Tennis Falls to CSI on the Road

Staten Island, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's tennis team dropped an 8-1 non-conference decision to the College of Staten Island on the road on Thursday evening and, as a result, fell to 1-5 on the year.

SJC's second doubles tandem of Matt Dioguardo and Phillip Branigan secured the Golden Eagles' only doubles point, as the pair defeated Mitchel Voloshin and Aldo Rodriguez 9-7. Chris Corrao and Peter Rasmussen took an 8-5 loss at first doubles and Brian Merle and Wilfido Vasquez fell 8-4 at third doubles.

Time restrictions forced singles matches to adopt pro-set rules which meant contests were played to eight (similar to doubles competition). SJC would drop all six fixtures with Vasquez (6th singles, 8-5), Dioguardo (3rd singles, 8-4) and Branigan (5th singles, 8-4) faring best.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Sunday, April 17 when they travel to face Skyline rival Yeshiva at 2:00 PM. Full recap here at sjcgoldeneagles.com following the action.
